Bangladesh ended Day 3 of the Jamaica Test in a commanding position, leading by 211 runs after dismissing West Indies for 146. This marked just the second time in their history that Bangladesh took a first-innings lead despite being bowled out for under 200.

Bangladesh’s fast bowlers, led by Nahid Rana’s maiden five-wicket haul, were instrumental in reducing West Indies to 146. Rana, whose figures of 5 for 61 included a bruising spell, troubled the hosts with his pace and bounce, removing captain Kraigg Brathwaite and forcing a series of quick wickets. Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam also made key contributions, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Hasan Mahmud picked up important scalps.
Despite early setbacks in their second innings, Bangladesh responded with counter-attacking batting. Shahadat Hossain, promoted to No. 3, aggressively took on the bowlers, hitting four boundaries in his quickfire 28. His dismissal brought Shadman Islam and Mehidy into play, both of whom played fearless shots, with Mehidy hitting four consecutive fours off Shamar. Shadman, with 46 off 82 balls, and Mehidy, scoring 42 off 39, put Bangladesh in a strong position.
Despite Shadman and Mehidy’s departures, Bangladesh reached 193 for 5, with Litton Das and Jaker Ali adding valuable runs. West Indies’ bowlers, especially in the absence of Kemar Roach, struggled to control the game, as Brathwaite’s captaincy faced challenges. Bangladesh’s resilience, both in bowling and batting, marked their best day on this tour, leaving them with a firm grip on the Test.
