The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Tony Hemming, an experienced Australian curator, as its new chief curator for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. This marks the first time PCB has offered a long-term contract to a foreign curator, highlighting its commitment to enhancing pitch quality under Hemming’s leadership.

Hemming brings over four decades of expertise in pitch and outfield management, including significant roles at renowned venues such as Melbourne, Perth, and Hobart. His international experience spans countries like Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, where he has contributed to pitch preparations.
PCB’s decision to appoint Hemming follows previous collaborations with foreign curators like Andy Atkinson, aimed at improving pitch standards in Pakistan. Hemming’s tenure will begin with overseeing pitch preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled from 19 February to 9 March, which Pakistan will host.
Apart from the prestigious tournament, Hemming will also focus on enhancing pitch quality for Pakistan’s upcoming home series against Bangladesh, England, and West Indies. His responsibilities extend to supervising pitch preparations for the domestic season, aiming to elevate standards across Pakistani cricket grounds.
With his wealth of experience and a mandate to uplift pitch standards, Hemming’s appointment underscores PCB’s strategic initiative to ensure optimal playing conditions for both domestic and international fixtures in the upcoming cricketing calendar.
