Bangladesh faces a major setback before the Test series against Pakistan with Mahmudul Hasan Joy ruled out. The in-form opener suffered a groin injury, sidelining him from the crucial matches. Joy, a key player since his debut, has scored 623 runs, including a century and four fifties, in Bangladesh’s red-ball format.

The injury occurred during Bangladesh-A’s four-day match against Pakistan Shaheens, sidelining Joy from the upcoming two-match series.
With Joy out, Shadman Islam is likely to step in as the opening partner for Zakir Mahmudul Hasan in the first Test in Rawalpindi. Shadman, with 559 runs in 13 Tests, including a century, could be a solid replacement.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto will take the number three spot, followed by Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Mahmudul Hasan, and Mushfiqur Rahim. Litton Das will bat at seven and serve as the wicket-keeper, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz will play at number eight.
The bowling attack will likely include Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed, with either Mahmudul Hasan Mahmud or Taijul Islam being selected based on the pitch conditions.
Bangladesh’s Probable XI for the 1st Test vs Pakistan:
Zakir Hasan, Shadman Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto (C), Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das (WK), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud/Taijul Islam.
