Batting first, Mumbai, led by Shreyas Iyer, posted an imposing 382 runs in 50 overs. Iyer was the star, smashing an explosive unbeaten century. Ayush Mhatre and Hardik Tamore made crucial contributions, while Shivam Dube dazzled with a quickfire 63 not out, giving Mumbai a formidable total.

Karnataka’s chase began with an early blow as opener Nikin Jose departed cheaply. However, Mayank Agarwal and KV Aneesh steadied the innings with a crucial 70-run stand. Agarwal’s dismissal brought KL Shrijith to the crease, and he turned the game on its head. Aneesh played a sparkling knock of 82 off just 66 balls before falling, but Shrijith took charge.

Shrijith, in partnership with Pravin Dubey, powered Karnataka to victory. Dubey chipped in with a vital unbeaten 65, ensuring Karnataka reached the target in just 47 overs. Shrijith’s scintillating 150 not out overshadowed Iyer’s century, showcasing his class and composure under pressure.

Mumbai’s bowling attack struggled against Karnataka’s batting onslaught. Junaid Khan picked up two wickets, and Shivam Dube added one, but the rest of the bowlers failed to contain Karnataka’s aggression.

The Mayank Agarwal-led Karnataka earned four crucial points, while Mumbai faced a tough start to their campaign despite a strong batting display. This thrilling encounter sets the tone for more action-packed games in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
