In a surprising turn of events, Sri Lanka’s star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has reversed his decision to retire from Test cricket. This exciting development sees Hasaranga make a comeback for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

Hasaranga Out of Retirement for Bangladesh Tests
The 26-year-old Hasaranga had previously announced his retirement from the longer format in August last year, prioritizing his limited-overs career. However, his return to the Test fold signifies a shift in strategy. Sri Lanka Test Squad Announced for Bangladesh Series with Hasaranga, Peiris Debut, with Hasaranga’s inclusion coming at the expense of Asitha Fernando and Milan Rathnayake.
This decision also means Hasaranga Misses IPL Start Due to Test Cricket Comeback. He will be unavailable for the initial matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) while representing Sri Lanka in the Tests.
Peiris Earns Maiden Test Call-Up
Accompanying Hasaranga on his return is left-handed batsman Nishan Peiris, who has earned a much-deserved maiden Test call-up. Peiris’ selection adds depth to Sri Lanka’s batting lineup.
The Test series against Bangladesh kicks off on March 22nd in Sylhet, with the second Test scheduled for March 30th in Chittagong. This series comes after a closely contested tour where Bangladesh emerged victorious in the ODI series 2-1, while Sri Lanka clinched the T20I series 2-1.
Sri Lanka will be hoping to bounce back from their ODI defeat and look to turn the tables in Tests with the return of their star all-rounder, Wanindu Hasaranga.
