West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican has been named the ICC Player of the Month for January 2025 after his outstanding performances in Pakistan. The 32-year-old claimed 19 wickets in the two-match Test series at the Multan Cricket Stadium, helping his team secure a series-levelling win. His efforts also earned him the ‘Player of the Series’ award as he finished as the highest wicket-taker.

Warrican edged past strong contenders, including India’s Varun Chakravarthy and Pakistan’s Noman Ali, to claim the ICC honor. His remarkable showing in the second Test, where he took nine wickets, played a crucial role in West Indies securing their first Test victory in Pakistan in 35 years.
The left-arm spinner became only the third West Indies cricketer to win the ICC Player of the Month award, following in the footsteps of Gudakesh Motie and Shamar Joseph. His consistency and ability to deliver in challenging conditions made him the standout performer of the month.

Warrican made his Test debut for West Indies in October 2015 against Sri Lanka in Colombo. In his 19 Test appearances so far, he has taken 73 wickets at an impressive average of 27.56. The recent series in Pakistan saw him register both of his career five-wicket hauls, further cementing his status as a key player for the team.
With his latest achievement, Warrican has reaffirmed his value to West Indies cricket, showcasing his skills on the international stage and playing a pivotal role in his team’s historic win in Pakistan.
