Ishan Kishan, Mumbai Indians’ standout player, gears up for IPL 2024 with a comeback in DY Patil Tournament

Ishan Kishan’s return to the DY Patil tournament marks his comeback after departing the Indian camp in November due to concerns. He cited mental fatigue and limited playing opportunities during the South Africa tour as the reasons for his absence. The Indian wicket-keeper batsman is eager to resume competitive cricket and make a significant impact in the upcoming tournament.

Ishan Kishan has responded to BCCI notices, signaling his comeback to the Ranji Trophy. Although part of Jharkhand’s team, he is yet to feature in the first-class tournament. The Indian wicket-keeper batsman aims to contribute significantly in his upcoming Ranji Trophy appearances.

Head coach Rahul Dravid emphasized the importance of players making themselves available for selection. In the ongoing India vs England Test series, the wicket-keeper role has been handled by KS Bharat, Dhruv Jurel, and Sarfaraz Khan in Kishan’s absence.

The 25-year-old cricketer’s return to competitive cricket in the DY Patil tournament is confirmed. This decision follows his recent practice session with the Pandya brothers in Vadodara, which went viral on social media.

Currently, the Indian team is in a five-match Test series against England, serving as their last international assignment before the T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, Virat Kohli has withdrawn from the remaining three Tests due to personal reasons. Meanwhile, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is set to make a comeback after missing the second Test due to a hamstring injury.

Initially considered fit, KL Rahul is ruled out of the third Test due to a sore knee. Devdutt Padikkal replaces him in the squad from Karnataka. The decision aims to maintain a competitive team despite Rahul’s unfortunate setback.
