In exciting news for cricket fans worldwide, UP Nawabs have signed former West Indies legend Chris Gayle, the ‘Universe Boss,’ for the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 League season. Gayle, who last played international cricket in 2021, will bring his explosive style to the fast-paced T10 format, adding to the tournament’s entertainment value.

The Abu Dhabi T10 League, a unique 10-overs-per-side competition, initially launched in 2017 to boost the excitement of franchise cricket. Since then, the tournament’s popularity has surged, and now, its seventh season is set to kick off from November 21 to December 2 at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium. This year, a total of 10 teams will compete in the league, battling across 40 thrilling matches for the coveted title.

Ahead of the season opener, UP Nawabs initially announced an 18-member squad but later revealed that Gayle would join them as a key player. Known for his powerful six-hitting, Gayle adds formidable strength to the Nawabs’ batting lineup. Gayle smashed 124 sixes, scored 1,899 runs, hit two centuries, and 14 fifties in his T20I career, showcasing his dominance in the shorter formats of the game.

The 2024 season will open with Team Abu Dhabi facing Ajman Bolts on November 21. Gayle’s presence will surely draw fans, as he continues to be a global crowd-puller with his explosive style.

Recently, Gayle once again reminded fans of his talent during a Legends League Cricket (LLC) match between Gujarat Greats and Konark Suryas Odisha. Teaming up with Shikhar Dhawan, Gayle played a fiery knock, scoring an impressive 34 runs, including three powerful sixes. Dhawan scored 23 and joined Gayle to build a valuable 57-run partnership, showcasing their legendary power and flair.
