Star Indian batter Shreyas Iyer has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March 2025, following his impressive performances during India’s successful ICC Champions Trophy campaign. The middle-order batter edged past New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy and Rachin Ravindra to clinch the award, officially announced on Monday.
Iyer played a crucial role in India’s title-winning run in the tournament, showcasing his calmness and control in the middle overs. In March alone, he scored 172 runs at an average of 57.33 and a strike rate of 77.47. His composed knocks under pressure were pivotal in guiding India through tough phases, particularly during their matches in Dubai and Pakistan.
Reacting to the honour, Shreyas Iyer said he was truly humbled to receive the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for March. He called it extra special as it came in the same month India lifted the ICC Champions Trophy — a moment he said he would treasure forever. Iyer added that contributing to the team’s success on such a grand stage is every cricketer’s dream. He also expressed gratitude towards his teammates, coaches, and support staff for their constant support and belief in him.
The 30-year-old ended the 2025 Champions Trophy as the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer, falling just 20 runs short of Rachin Ravindra. However, Iyer’s contributions were more impactful for India’s campaign. He frequently walked in during pressure situations and anchored key partnerships that played a crucial role in setting up India’s title-winning performances.
With this award, Iyer’s efforts during one of India’s most memorable title wins have been duly recognised on the global stage.
