Sai Sudharsan and Prasidh Krishna starred as Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 58 runs in Ahmedabad, climbing to the top of the IPL 2025 points table with their fourth consecutive win.
Batting first on a red-soil pitch after RR opted to bowl, Sudharsan set the tone early. Unlike his usual cautious starts, the left-hander came out attacking and raced to 39 off 22 balls in the powerplay. He eventually scored 82 off 53, his third half-century of the season. He shared an 80-run stand with Jos Buttler, who contributed a quick 36. After Buttler’s dismissal to Maheesh Theekshana, M Shahrukh Khan added vital momentum with 36 off 20 balls. In the final overs, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan plundered 30 runs to lift GT to an imposing 217 for 6.
RR’s chase faltered early. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana departed cheaply in the powerplay, with Arshad Khan and Mohammed Siraj striking early. Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag attempted a rebuild, adding 48 off 26 balls. But Kulwant Khejroliya removed Parag, despite the batter’s unsuccessful review.
Rashid Khan, who had only one wicket in four matches prior, made an impact by removing Dhruv Jurel. Although Shimron Hetmyer counterattacked with a spirited 52, including a dominant stretch against Rashid, the leg-spinner hit back by dismissing Impact Sub Shubham Dubey.
Prasidh Krishna was instrumental in shutting down RR’s hopes. He removed Samson with a sharp short ball, then dismissed Jofra Archer and Hetmyer in the 16th over, both caught off short deliveries. His figures of 3 for 24 broke the back of RR’s middle order. With RR bowled out for 159 in 19.2 overs, GT wrapped up a comprehensive win.
The Titans are now table-toppers, driven by Sudharsan’s consistent form and Prasidh’s impact in the middle overs.
