Smaran Ravichandran Joins SRH as Adam Zampa’s Replacement

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have named young Karnataka batter Smaran Ravichandran as a replacement for injured Australian spinner Adam Zampa in their IPL 2025 squad. The 21-year-old right-hander is set to make his IPL debut after consistently delivering strong performances in domestic cricket.

Smaran Ravichandran Joins SRH as Adam Zampa’s ReplacementSmaran caught attention with his prolific run in the CK Nayudu Trophy, where he amassed 829 runs, cementing his place as a rising star. He has also shown his batting prowess in the Maharaja T20 Trophy. Representing Gulbarga Mystics in the 2024 edition, he scored 302 runs in just nine innings at a healthy average of 43.14 and an impressive strike rate of 145.19. His campaign included one century and two fifties. He has also featured for Shivamogga Strikers in domestic T20s.

Following a string of consistent scores, Smaran made his first-class debut for Karnataka in the 2024-25 domestic season. In seven matches, he has racked up 516 runs at an average of 64.50, including consecutive centuries against Punjab and Haryana. His List A record is even more impressive—721 runs in 10 games at a staggering average of 72.10.

While his T20 numbers are still developing, with 204 runs in six matches at an average of 34, Smaran’s ability to accelerate the scoring and build innings under pressure makes him an exciting prospect for SRH.

Receiving his maiden IPL contract in April 2025, Smaran Ravichandran joins SRH with high expectations as he looks to make the most of this opportunity on the big stage.
