Shreyas Iyer, captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), hailed his team’s “comprehensive” victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2024 final, describing their performance as that of “invincibles” throughout the season.
Following KKR’s third IPL title win, Iyer expressed immense satisfaction with the team’s overall performance, highlighting their dominance throughout the tournament. KKR’s campaign was marked by exceptional consistency, matching Shane Warne’s Rajasthan Royals for the fewest losses in a season.
Reflecting on the final, Iyer acknowledged the exceptional contributions of key players such as Mitchell Starc and Andre Russell. Starc’s pivotal wickets and Russell’s impactful bowling were instrumental in KKR’s success.
Starc, who faced pressure due to his high price tag, credited his improved performance to his experience and maturity since his last IPL stint. He emphasized the enjoyment and learning experience gained from playing alongside talented teammates and praised the team’s collective effort throughout the season.
Meanwhile, Sunil Narine attributed his outstanding season to the freedom and support provided by the coaching staff, particularly Gautam Gambhir. Narine’s contributions with both bat and ball were crucial to KKR’s success, earning him the MVP award for a record third time.
For Narine, winning the IPL title on his birthday made the victory even more special, evoking memories of KKR’s previous triumphs. He expressed gratitude for the camaraderie within the team and the collective effort that led to their success.
Overall, KKR’s triumph in IPL 2024 was a testament to their exceptional teamwork, individual brilliance, and unwavering determination, leaving a lasting legacy in the tournament’s history.
