Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal will stay with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. This retention comes with financial implications, as RCB will incur a cost of at least INR 36 crore for keeping these three players—two capped and one uncapped. Additionally, the franchise will have three right-to-match (RTM) options during the auction, allowing them to potentially reacquire one uncapped Indian player and two capped players or three capped players.

However, RCB will part ways with several notable players, including their 2024 season captain Faf du Plessis, as well as Mohammed Siraj, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green. The team finished fourth in IPL 2024 but faced elimination after losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator.
The IPL deadline for franchises to submit their lists of retained players is October 31. Each team can retain up to six players before the mega auction, with a maximum of five capped internationals and two uncapped players. The IPL stipulates minimum deductions from the auction purse for retained players, with varying costs: INR 18 crore for the first player, INR 14 crore for the second, INR 11 crore for the third, and similar values for subsequent players, with an uncapped player costing INR 4 crore. Franchises have the flexibility to offer more or less than these stipulated amounts to their retained players.
