After a heavy defeat in the first Test, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering significant changes to the squad for the upcoming second Test against England. According to sports journalist Qadir Khawaja from Samaa TV, the PCB is likely to include Imam ul Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Mir Hamza, Nauman Ali, and, notably, promising young opener Mohammad Huraira in the lineup.

Pakistan’s defeat by an inning and 47 runs highlighted a troubling decline in standards. Shan Masood and his team struggled against England in the first Test at Multan, despite posting 556 runs in their first innings.
With the second Test scheduled for October 15 in Multan, the PCB is reportedly weighing several changes to the team. Imam ul Haq, known for his strong performance at home, could make a return. Kamran Ghulam, who has excelled in domestic cricket, could join the squad to strengthen the faltering middle order. The inclusion of Mir Hamza, a left-arm fast bowler, and Nauman Ali, a left-arm spinner, could provide better balance to the bowling attack.
Additionally, young talent Mohammad Huraira, who has shown promise in domestic competitions, may earn his Test debut. However, it remains uncertain which senior players will be dropped to make room for these new faces as Pakistan cricket’s situation becomes increasingly dire.
Shan Masood, who took over the captaincy after Babar Azam’s resignation, has not secured a victory in his six matches in charge, raising speculation about his potential replacement. Candidates for captaincy include Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel, and Agha Salman.
