Heinrich Klaasen has withdrawn from the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 season due to a family emergency. The South African wicketkeeper-batter was initially set to play for the Saint Lucia Kings but will no longer participate. The announcement was made on August 28, just one day before the tournament’s kickoff in Antigua. Klaasen was signed by the Saint Lucia Kings in June, ahead of the CPL 2024 player draft.

To fill the gap left by Klaasen, the Saint Lucia Kings have brought in New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert as his replacement. Seifert is a seasoned T20 player with over 200 matches under his belt and a remarkable strike rate of 130.12. He recently played for the Montreal Tigers in the Global T20 Canada 2024 season, showcasing his skills on the international T20 circuit.
Klaasen, who previously played in the CPL 2022 for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, recently participated in the MLC 2024 season in the USA. However, his performance there was underwhelming, managing just 97 runs in six innings at an average of 16.16.
In addition to Klaasen, Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza has also pulled out of the CPL 2024 season due to injury. The CPL 2024 will start on August 29. The opening match will feature Antigua & Barbuda Falcons and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. Fans are eagerly awaiting this exciting clash.
