Known for his blistering pace and skillful variations, Rauf struck early, dismissing Josh Inglis to give Pakistan the upper hand. His spell intensified as he bowled a brilliant delivery to outfox Marnus Labuschagne, a mainstay in Australia’s lineup. Rauf’s ability to dismantle Australia’s batting was on full display when he removed Aaron Hardie with a sharp catch behind the stumps. A significant moment in the match came when he bowled Glenn Maxwell with a stunning delivery at a critical stage, amplifying the pressure on the hosts. To cap off his remarkable performance, he dismissed Australian captain Pat Cummins, securing a personal milestone in the process.

With this five-wicket haul, Rauf became the first Pakistani pacer to achieve the feat against Australia in an ODI at the Adelaide Oval. Only Saqlain Mushtaq, who also claimed five wickets at the same venue, had accomplished this milestone for Pakistan previously. This achievement puts Rauf ahead of Pakistani legends like Wasim Akram and Imran Khan, who never recorded an ODI fifer against Australia in Adelaide.

At the close of Rauf’s spell, Australia was struggling at 149 for nine in 33.2 overs, with only Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood left at the crease. Rauf’s performance has left Australia in a dire position, giving Pakistan a golden opportunity to secure a series-defining win.
