Comparing the current team’s performance to past World Cups, the 55-year-old highlighted a noticeable change in attitude on and off the field. “If you go back in time, during the World Cups in Dubai and Australia, the team had almost the same lineup, with only 3-4 changes. The unity among players seems to have deteriorated this time,” Latif remarked, emphasizing the importance of cohesive team dynamics.

Latif squarely placed blame on PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi for the team’s lack of preparation leading up to the mega event. He criticized the frequent changes in coaching staff accompanying changes in higher management, advocating for stability in the dressing room. “The cricket boards of all Test-playing nations prepared well for the T20 World Cup, except Pakistan. It’s crucial to consider the leadership and communication at the top,” he added, underscoring the impact of leadership stability on team performance.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rashid Latif, a seasoned cricketer who represented Pakistan in 37 Tests and 166 ODIs from 1992 to 2003, expressed disappointment over the team’s underperformance. Known for his role as wicketkeeper-batsman, Latif contributed significantly to Pakistan’s cricketing history with over 3000 international runs and 350 dismissals behind the stumps.
