Notable shifts include Kiara Advani’s rise from 16th to 12th place and Katrina Kaif’s return to the top celebrity brands list after five years. Aviral Jain, managing director of valuation advisory services at Kroll, highlighted the theme of the 2023 study, ‘brands, business, Bollywood,’ which acknowledges the growth of celebrity-owned startups and the rise of Indian celebrities as global brand ambassadors. Bollywood’s resurgence in 2023, with blockbusters like Gadar 2, Pathaan, and Animal breaking records, reestablished its dominance in the film industry.
The report also noted that Pepsi, endorsed by Ranveer Singh, Livspace by Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, and JioCinema by Alia Bhatt, MS Dhoni, and Sachin Tendulkar, are the top-three brands with the most digital platform advertisements. Indian celebrities have significantly expanded their global presence, becoming ambassadors for prestigious brands like Gucci, Qatar Airways, and Jimmy Choo. Additionally, the digital media segment is expected to grow from $6.8 billion in 2022 to $10.3 billion in 2025, at a robust CAGR of 14.7 percent.
