In a historic turn of events at the ICC T20 World Cup, the USA defeated Pakistan, making them only the second ICC Test team to lose to the USA in a T20I match, following Bangladesh. This game also marks the first instance of Pakistan losing to a non-full member side in T20Is.

Pakistan suffered a loss to the USA in the super over, as Pakistani bowler Mohammed Amir conceded numerous extras in the final over of the match. Consequently, the USA set a target of 18 runs in the super over, which, unfortunately, Pakistan’s batters were unable to chase down successfully.
Monank Patel Lauds His Spirited Side
Monank Patel, the captain of the USA, earned the Man of the Match award for his crucial innings of 50 runs, leading his team to this historic victory. Moreover, Patel expressed confidence in his team’s ability to progress in the tournament.
“Winning the toss and the way we bowled in the first 6 overs, we took wickets and kept them quiet. We knew they would take chances after their partnership. We knew we were in the game with 160 to chase, just needed a partnership. Playing in a World Cup, you don’t get a chance to do it every year. We were fully committed every single ball,” said Monank Patel post-game.
The first upset of the tournament came from the USA, who had already defeated Canada in their opening game. They are now aiming for a serious run in the T20 World Cup, which is taking place in their country. Pakistan, on the other hand, need to regroup as they prepare to take on India in their next game on June 9 in New York.
