Umran Malik Sick with Dengue; Will Miss Buchi Babu Tournament 2024

India’s rising fast bowler, Umran Malik, will miss the Buchi Babu Tournament 2024 for Jammu & Kashmir due to dengue fever. Malik, who has been recovering from previous injuries, had hoped to return to form in this tournament. However, he confirmed that he is battling dengue and expressed his disappointment about missing the event.

Despite recent reports suggesting delays in his red-ball comeback due to another injury, Malik clarified that dengue is the reason for his absence. “I would have loved to play in the tournament, but I’m just recovering from dengue,” Malik told the Indian Express.

Malik’s career, once promising with comparisons to Shoaib Akhtar following his standout 2022 IPL season, has been hampered by injuries. Reflecting on his recent struggles, he acknowledged the impact of injuries on his performance. “I was fully prepared that season, but the weather didn’t help. I was looking forward to the IPL 2024, but things didn’t go as planned. However, it gave me time to work on my skills. I’ve become a better bowler because of it. After the IPL, I injured my hamstring, and now I’m down with dengue,” he said.

Malik was set to play for Jammu & Kashmir against Mumbai in the tournament, where he would have faced notable players like Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer.
