Tamim Iqbal, former Bangladesh captain, had a massive heart attack on Monday morning. He is currently admitted to a hospital in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka. Tamim was playing a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club in Savar when he experienced chest discomfort.

Initially, arrangements were made to airlift him to Dhaka from the BKSP ground. However, the plan was canceled as his condition deteriorated. He was then taken to Fazilatunnesa Hospital for immediate treatment. Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, chief physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, confirmed the severity of the situation. “He underwent initial checks at a local hospital, where mild heart issues were suspected. Efforts were made to transport him to Dhaka, but he experienced severe chest pain on the way to the helipad and had to be rushed back. Dr. Chowdhury later confirmed through medical reports that Tamim had suffered a massive heart attack.
The incident happened early in the first innings of the 50-over match, soon after the toss. Tamim’s family members are currently traveling to Savar to be with him. Dr. Chowdhury added, “It is a difficult time for all of us. He is under observation, and the medical team is doing everything possible for his recovery.”
Tamim’s sudden health emergency has shocked the cricketing community. Fans and well-wishers are hoping for his quick recovery as he remains under close medical supervision.
