Siddarth Kaul, the 34-year-old fast bowler, has announced his retirement from Indian cricket, nearly six years after his last appearance for the national team. Kaul, who represented India in three T20Is and three ODIs between 2018 and 2019, ended his international career with six caps. While retiring from Indian cricket, he is still open to playing overseas, expressing interest in opportunities in leagues such as the Legends League, MLC, and county cricket.
Kaul’s domestic career spanned 17 years, with notable performances for Punjab. In the 2023-24 season, he played a pivotal role in helping Punjab win their first Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, finishing as the team’s highest wicket-taker with 16 wickets in 10 matches. He was also their top performer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, taking 19 wickets in six games.
Throughout his career, Kaul excelled in all formats, finishing with 297 first-class wickets in 88 matches, 199 List A wickets, and 182 T20 wickets. His career was marked by setbacks due to back injuries, but he made a successful comeback and became one of Punjab’s key white-ball bowlers.
Kaul’s standout IPL years were in 2017 and 2018 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he picked up a combined total of 37 wickets across two seasons. He also represented Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Kaul recently played for Northamptonshire in the County Championship, taking 13 wickets in three matches. He feels he still has 3-4 years of cricket left and is eager to explore future playing opportunities abroad.
