Rohit Sharma Named CEAT Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2024

Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma was honored with the CEAT Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2024 award on Wednesday, August 21, during a ceremony in Mumbai. The event celebrated the achievements of various global cricketers, with Sharma’s outstanding performances over the past year earning him top recognition.

Rohit Sharma led India to a historic 2024 T20 World Cup win in the West Indies. BCCI secretary Jay Shah presented him with the prestigious award. Under his leadership, India also achieved 10 consecutive wins at the 2023 World Cup. However, they narrowly lost the final to Australia.

Sharma’s Indian teammates were also recognized for their exceptional contributions to the game. Virat Kohli received the CEAT ODI Batter of the Year award, acknowledging his consistent performances. Mohammed Shami was honored with the ODI Bowler of the Year award for his impactful displays. In the Test category, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin were awarded for their excellence in batting and bowling, respectively. Additionally, Phil Salt and New Zealand’s Tim Southee claimed the T20I honors for batting and bowling.

After leading India in a three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka, Sharma is currently taking a short break from competitive cricket. He is set to return for India’s upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
