Rohit Sharma Breaks Two World Records After India’s T20 World Cup Triumph
First Indian Cricketer to Win the T20 World Cup Twice

Rohit Sharma has broken two world records following India’s successful T20 World Cup victory after 13 years. For Sharma, this win was a significant personal achievement as he became the first Indian cricketer to win the T20 World Cup twice, having previously won in 2007 under MS Dhoni’s leadership. Notably, in the 2007 final against Pakistan, Sharma scored a crucial unbeaten 30 off 16 balls.
Rohit Sharma – First Captain to Win 50 T20Is
Sharma has now set a world record as the first captain to achieve 50 victories in T20 Internationals. Appointed as the white-ball captain in 2021, he has led India in 61 matches, winning 50 of them, resulting in a winning percentage of 78.68. His latest triumph came in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa.
India Unbeaten Under Rohit Sharma’s Captaincy
Adding to his accolades, Sharma became the first captain to lead a team to a T20 World Cup victory with a perfect win record. Unlike in 2007, when India lost a group match against New Zealand, the 2024 campaign saw India remain undefeated throughout the tournament. Sharma thus became the first skipper to win the T20 World Cup with a 100% win record.
