Indian cricket fans are eagerly awaiting the start of their home season, as Rohit Sharma’s team takes on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series. The series, starting at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, is crucial for India as it offers them a chance to strengthen their top position in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. One of India’s key players for the series is veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who has been a match-winner for India, especially in home conditions.

Ashwin, known for his remarkable performances in Test cricket, is on the verge of achieving several major milestones during this series.
R Ashwin Poised to Surpass Anil Kumble
Anil Kumble, one of India’s greatest spinners, holds the record for eight ten-wicket hauls in Test cricket. Ashwin, having already equalled Kumble’s tally, needs just one more ten-wicket performance to surpass him and claim the record for the most ten-wicket hauls by an Indian in Test matches.
R Ashwin Closing in on Most Test Wickets Against Bangladesh
Ashwin has been a consistent performer against Bangladesh, currently holding 23 Test wickets against them. Meanwhile, Zaheer Khan tops this list with 31 wickets. Consequently, Ashwin needs just nine more scalps to become India’s highest wicket-taker in Tests against Bangladesh.
Ashwin Nearing Zaheer Khan’s All-Format Record
Across all formats, Ashwin has 37 wickets against Bangladesh, which places him just behind Zaheer Khan’s tally of 44. Therefore, with only eight more wickets, Ashwin could surpass Zaheer and become India’s most successful bowler against Bangladesh in all formats.
