Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq penned an emotional message to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after being released from the team on the day of the IPL 2025 retention announcement. Taking to Instagram, Naveen expressed his gratitude to the LSG management, wishing them success in future endeavors.

Signed by LSG in late 2022, Naveen represented the franchise for two seasons, playing 18 matches and taking 25 wickets at an average of 23.64. On November 7, about a week after the announcement, Naveen bid farewell to the LSG family, joining the list of players released on October 31, including key names like KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Quinton de Kock. The franchise retained only five players, featuring one overseas star, Nicholas Pooran, alongside Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Ayush Badoni.
Naveen’s journey now heads to the IPL 2025 mega auction. A seasoned T20 player, he has amassed 246 wickets in 205 T20 appearances, including 45 international matches for Afghanistan, with an overall bowling average of 24.28. His IPL stint with LSG was productive, as he picked up 25 wickets over the last two seasons. Recently, he also showcased his skills in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, representing the Barbados Royals.
With his consistent performances and international experience, Naveen-ul-Haq will be a valuable addition for franchises looking for a skilled and experienced fast bowler in the IPL 2025 auction.
