Megan Schutt Overtakes Nida Dar for Most Wickets in Women’s T20Is

Australia’s star pacer Megan Schutt has surpassed Pakistan’s Nida Dar to claim the record for most wickets in Women’s T20 Internationals. Schutt achieved this milestone during Australia’s T20 World Cup match against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The right-arm fast bowler removed Sadaf Shamas in the fifth over, trapping her lbw after a successful DRS review by captain Alyssa Healy. With this dismissal, Schutt overtook Dar’s tally of 143 wickets, reaching 144 to become the highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is.

Schutt’s journey to this achievement has been exceptional. She has been in top form during the T20 World Cup, delivering match-winning performances. Notably, she claimed crucial three-wicket hauls against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, becoming the tournament’s most successful bowler. Her consistency and skill with the white ball have made her a vital part of Australia’s dominant campaign.

Here’s a look at the current top wicket-takers in Women’s T20Is:

  1. Megan Schutt – 144 wickets (115 innings)
  2. Nida Dar – 143 wickets (150 innings)
  3. Deepti Sharma – 133 wickets (117 innings)
  4. Sophie Ecclestone – 128 wickets (87 innings)
  5. Ellyse Perry – 126 wickets (136 innings)

In the ongoing match, Australia Women capitalized on Schutt’s breakthrough, decimating Pakistan’s batting line-up. After Alyssa Healy opted to bowl first, Pakistan quickly lost wickets, including their stand-in captain Muneeba Ali. Georgia Wareham’s brilliant spell further weakened Pakistan, as she took the key wickets of Nida Dar and Omaima Sohail. By the 16th over, Pakistan was struggling at 58 for five, with Iram Javed and Aliya Riaz at the crease.
