Bangladesh batter Litton Das has acknowledged that his omission from the ODI squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy was due to his lack of form. After Bangladesh announced their squad on Sunday, Litton responded with a match-winning performance in the BPL, scoring an unbeaten 125 off 55 balls for Dhaka Capital against Durbar Rajshahi.

Litton Das:

“The Champions Trophy selection wasn’t in my control,” Litton said. “The selectors made the decision. My job is to perform, and I haven’t been doing that. I was a bit upset about it, but I start from zero again. Today, I played a good knock, but it’s in the past. I will keep working hard and see what happens next.”

Litton candidly accepted his lack of form, stating, “I was dropped because I wasn’t performing. There’s nothing to hide about it. It’s basic, normal.” He hasn’t reached double digits in his last seven ODI innings, with his last 50-plus score being in October 2023. Despite the criticism, he remains focused on improvement rather than external validation.

The 125 not out marked a turnaround for Litton, following earlier scores of 31, 0, 2, and 9 in the BPL. His century helped Dhaka Capital break a six-match losing streak and posted a remarkable 241-run opening stand with Tanzid Hasan. Litton credited Shahin, a member of the Dhaka support staff, for assisting him through training.

Looking ahead, Litton is optimistic about Dhaka’s future in the BPL, believing their 149-run victory over Rajshahi will boost their performance in the remaining games. “We’ve got our rhythm going, and we feel more confident,” he added.
