Pandya will lead the team in the three-match T20I series. However, he has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the selection committee that he wants to skip the One-Day Internationals for personal reasons.

The report also suggests that wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson may play a significant role in the series, with Rishabh Pant set to rest ahead of the home Tests against Bangladesh in September.

India’s expected squad for the T20Is against Sri Lanka includes Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav (VC), Sanju Samson (WK), Hardik Pandya (C), and others.

Recently, Pandya participated in a roadshow in his hometown of Baroda, where he enjoyed a warm reception upon his return.
