On August 24, Shikhar Dhawan stunned the cricketing world by announcing his retirement from all formats. The former India opener shared the news via social media, marking the end of an illustrious career.

However, Dhawan’s cricket journey is far from over. He has confirmed his participation in the upcoming season of Legends League Cricket (LLC). In a statement, Dhawan expressed his excitement: “My body is still conditioned for the demands of the game. While I’m at ease with my decision, cricket will always be a part of me. I’m eager to reconnect with my cricketing friends and entertain fans as we create new memories together.”
At 38, Dhawan will now focus on T20 leagues outside the IPL. Throughout his career, he accumulated 12,286 international runs across 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20s. Consequently, his experience and statistics highlight a remarkable journey in international cricket.
Raman Raheja, Co-founder of Legends League Cricket, welcomed Dhawan, saying, “We are thrilled to have Shikhar Dhawan join us. His experience and flair will enhance the competition and entertain fans. We look forward to seeing him in action with other cricket legends, adding to our league’s reputation as a stage for legendary cricketers.”
The Legends League Cricket season is set to begin in September, though specific dates have not been announced. The league will feature players like Hashim Amla and Martin Guptill.
