In a major setback for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), star bowler Tushar Deshpande has successfully undergone ankle surgery in London. The right-arm seamer shared an update on Instagram, expressing relief after the procedure. “I’m sharing an update about my ankle surgery, which took place yesterday and went very well. I am very grateful to my family, friends, and all my fans for their well wishes, love, and trust. I am now starting my journey to recover and come back stronger,” Tushar Deshpande wrote, adding a touch of optimism with “जय बजरंग बली” (Jai Bajrang Bali).

Tushar Deshpande has been in exceptional form, claiming 15 wickets in just five matches as Mumbai secured their record-extending 43rd Ranji Trophy title during the 2023-24 season. Unfortunately, this injury represents a significant loss for CSK, especially since he has emerged as one of their top bowlers in recent years. In IPL 2023, for instance, he led the team with an impressive 21 wickets in 16 matches. His impressive performance also earned him his first India call-up during the 2024 tour of Zimbabwe, where he took two wickets.
This injury marks the end of Tushar Deshpande’s cricketing activities for now, as he missed the Duleep Trophy and will also be absent from the upcoming Ranji Trophy. It is uncertain if he will be fit to return for IPL 2025.
