In an intense clash between Barishal and Chattogram in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024, Avishka Fernando of Chattogram Challengers played exceptionally well, scoring an unbeaten 91 off 50 balls against Fortune Barishal in Sylhet on Saturday. Avishka’s outstanding performance helped Chattogram Challengers set a strong total, which proved too challenging for Barishal. As a result, Barishal lost the match by 10 runs.
The Barishal bowlers struggled to stop Avishka’s aggressive play, and Curtis Campher contributed to the challenge with a quick 29 off 9 balls. In response, Barishal put up a fight, with Ahmed Shehzad scoring an aggressive 39 off 17 balls and Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributing an explosive 35 off 16, keeping the game competitive.
However, Curtis Campher’s excellent bowling, taking four crucial wickets, tilted the game in favor of Chattogram Challengers. Notably, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Tamim Iqbal couldn’t make a significant impact in this match, and the Barishal batting line heavily relies on them. Tamim scored a slow 33, Mushfiqur posted 23, and Mahmudulla managed only 3.
This defeat marked Barishal’s third consecutive loss in four matches played so far, while Chattogram Challengers secured their third win in the same number of matches. The clash between Barishal and Chattogram exhibited the competitive spirit of the BPL 2024, highlighting exceptional performances and thrilling cricket encounters in Sylhet.
