Starting from August 21, Bangladesh’s senior men’s team was scheduled to play a two-Test series against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. However, the tour is now in doubt due to the civil unrest in Pakistan following former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and departure from the country.

The two Tests were set to be held in Rawalpindi (August 21-25) and Karachi (August 30-September 3). Given the current situation, it seems unlikely that the Bangladesh team will travel for the series. A source from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) mentioned that they had offered to fly the Bangladesh team to Rawalpindi early to ensure the series could proceed and even offered additional training facilities. However, there has been no response from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Reports indicate that homes of some senior players have been attacked, exacerbating the crisis. The Bangladesh A team was supposed to arrive in Pakistan tomorrow, with the Test squad following on August 17. The A team’s first four-day game is scheduled for August 11. Bangladesh last toured Pakistan in 2019-20.
The PCB is striving to maintain communication with the BCB, but the situation remains challenging. The BCB president, Najmul Hosain Papon, has also left the country, impacting the board’s functionality.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s tour of India is scheduled from September 19, where the men’s team will play 2 Tests and 3 T20Is over three and a half weeks.
