Bangladesh secured a commanding victory in the first Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI, thanks to a stellar performance from skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and their pace bowling attack. After opting to bat first, Sri Lanka started strongly with Avishka Fernando and Pathum Nissanka but faltered after losing quick wickets to Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Kusal Mendis’s half-century couldn’t prevent Sri Lanka’s collapse against Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, who skittled them for 255.

In reply, Bangladesh faced an early collapse, losing three wickets for 23 runs due to Dilshan Madushanka and Pramod Madushan’s spell. However, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mahmudullah stabilized the innings with a crucial partnership. Although Mahmudullah fell for 37, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim combined brilliantly, steering Bangladesh to victory with a 165-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
