Babar Azam, the star batsman of Pakistan, once again displayed his mastery in the shortest format during the high-pressure PSL 2024 Qualifier match against the table-toppers, Multan Sultans. Although Peshawar Zalmi fell short in this crucial encounter, Babar’s individual performance with the bat was a shining light.
Dominating the T20 Arena:

Despite the team’s defeat, Babar Azam continued his reign as a top batsman in T20 cricket. His knock of 46 runs off 42 balls against the Sultans was a testament to his skills. This impressive performance also marked a significant personal milestone for Babar, as he surpassed the coveted 1,000-run mark in all T20 matches for the year 2024.
Babar entered the match needing just 38 runs to reach the 1,000-run mark and ended the innings with a remarkable tally of 1,008 runs from just 21 innings. This achievement highlights his exceptional form in T20 cricket, which has continued into 2024 after a challenging period at the end of 2023.
A Season of Consistent Brilliance:
Babar’s dominance isn’t limited to the PSL. He showcased his exceptional batting prowess earlier this year during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand and his stint with the Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Leading the charge as the captain of Peshawar Zalmi, Babar currently sits atop the PSL 2024 leading run scorer list with a staggering 544 runs accumulated in just 10 innings.
Babar Azam’s remarkable achievement of surpassing 1,008 runs in only 21 T20 innings in 2024 translates to an impressive average of 53.05 and a phenomenal strike rate of 135.12. These numbers solidify his position as one of the most dominant and consistent batsmen in the T20 format today.
