In the first T20 of the 3-match series at Sky Stadium, Wellington, Australia’s skipper, Mitchell Marsh, and Tim David showcased remarkable performances, steering their team to a 6-wicket triumph against New Zealand. Chasing a target of 216 runs, Marsh’s unbeaten 72 and David’s 31* led the Australian batters to victory.
Despite losing early wickets, a solid start from Travis Head (24) and David Warner (32) set the stage. Captain Mitchell Marsh built crucial partnerships with Glenn Maxwell (25) and Josh Inglis (20), while Tim David stood firm till the end, guiding Australia to victory.
Mitchell Marsh was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding all-round performance, scoring 72 runs and taking a wicket in the first innings. For New Zealand, Mitchell Santner picked up two wickets, and Lockie Ferguson and Adam Milne took one each.
Earlier, New Zealand posted a formidable total of 215/3, with Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra, Mark Chapman, and Glenn Phillips contributing significantly. Mitchell Marsh, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins took wickets for Australia.
