Arshdeep Singh Makes History with First-Ball Wicket in USA vs IND T20 World Cup Match

Arshdeep Singh’s performance against USA in the T20 World Cup 2024 put him in the spotlight despite concerns over his economy rate on the challenging New York pitches. While he has been expensive, leaking runs at 6.25 per over across three games, his achievement stands out: he became the first Indian bowler to take a wicket on the very first ball of a T20 World Cup innings, dismissing Shayan Jahangir.

In India‘s match against USA at Nassau County Stadium on June 12, Arshdeep’s outstanding bowling saw him concede just nine runs in four overs and claim four crucial wickets. India‘s decision to field first paid off as they restricted USA to a modest total of 110. Apart from Arshdeep, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel contributed with two and one wicket respectively.

USA‘s Nitish Kumar acknowledged that his team fell short by about 20 runs but expressed confidence in their ability to defend the total on a challenging wicket. He also appreciated the support of the home crowd during the match.
