Amelia Kerr’s exceptional bowling throughout the tournament led her to achieve a unique milestone. In the final, the 24-year-old leg-spinner took three crucial wickets, bringing her total to 15 wickets in the tournament. This performance surpassed former England bowler Anya Shrubsole’s 2014 record of 13 wickets, making Kerr the highest wicket-taker in a single edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup. Her brilliance earned her both the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament honors, making her the first cricketer to win both awards in a single Women’s T20 World Cup. The only other player to achieve this feat in the Men’s T20 World Cup is England’s Sam Curran, who did so in 2022.

In the final, New Zealand posted a competitive total of 158/5 after being sent in to bat by South Africa. Amelia Kerr contributed 43 runs, while Brooke Halliday and Suzie Bates added 38 and 32, respectively. South Africa started their chase well, reaching 47/0 after six overs, but New Zealand’s bowlers, led by Kerr and Rosemary Mair, who both took three wickets, fought back strongly. The South African batting collapsed under pressure, giving New Zealand their first Women’s T20 World Cup title with a 32-run victory.
