England bowl, Archer replaces Stone; Head and Zampa out for Australia

In the third ODI at Chester-le-Street, England won the toss and elected to bowl against Australia. Captain Harry Brook secured his third consecutive toss win, which is a positive start for him. England, trailing 2-0 in the series and needing a win to stay alive, made a key change by bringing Jofra Archer back into the bowling lineup, replacing Olly Stone. With overcast conditions ahead, Brook is optimistic about his inexperienced side’s ability to adapt, emphasizing the importance of sticking to their capabilities. “It’s a long time to bat [50 overs]. We’ve picked guys because of their skills; they are in the side for a reason,” he stated, encouraging his players to replicate their county performances.

On the other hand, Australia faced challenges with injuries and illness, leading to two changes in their lineup. Mitchell Marsh confirmed that Travis Head was “a bit sore” and would therefore miss the match, along with Adam Zampa, who was unwell. As a result, Cameron Green and Sean Abbott stepped in as replacements. Despite these changes, Marsh expressed confidence in his team, stating, “We’ve got a real good side out today, and a chance of winning the series. It’s all about rocking up and trying to win a game for Australia.”

England’s XI: Ben Duckett, Phil Salt, Will Jacks, Harry Brook (capt), Jamie Smith (wk), Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Matthew Potts.
