Islamabad United secured a crucial victory against Quetta Gladiators in the PSL 2024 Eliminator, but the win was overshadowed by disciplinary issues within the losing team. Abrar Ahmed and Saud Shakeel from Quetta Gladiators were fined for violating the PSL’s code of conduct during the match.

Abrar Ahmed breached Article 2.4 of the code during Islamabad United’s batting innings. In the 19th over, he disobeyed instructions from the umpire and rolled the ball along the ground. This violation resulted in a fine of five percent of his match fee.
Saud Shakeel’s Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Saud Shakeel faced a similar fine for a Level 1 offense. He contravened Article 2.5 of the code by using provocative language or gestures towards a dismissed batsman. After Salman Ali Agha’s dismissal in the 12th over, Shakeel reportedly approached him and made remarks that could have incited an aggressive reaction.
Both Players Accept Penalties
Both Abrar Ahmed and Saud Shakeel acknowledged their mistakes and accepted the penalties imposed by match referee Mohammad Javed.
Islamabad United Advances Despite Controversy
Despite the disciplinary issues within Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United emerged victorious by 39 runs. Abrar Ahmed managed only one wicket, while Saud Shakeel was dismissed without scoring. This win secured Islamabad United’s place in the next stage of the tournament, eliminating Quetta Gladiators from contention.
