Former cricketers Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate have been appointed to join Gautam Gambhir as part of Team India’s new coaching staff. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) considered several candidates before confirming the duo, as head coach Gambhir had specifically requested them. T Dilip will continue as the fielding coach, with the official announcement of these signings expected soon.

For the bowling coach position, Morne Morkel is the leading candidate to replace Paras Mhambrey. Morkel worked with Gambhir at Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants. He is being considered at Gambhir’s request. However, the final decision is yet to be made.
Nayar and Gambhir will travel with the Indian squad for the Sri Lanka series. Ten Doeschate’s joining date remains uncertain. He is currently in the United States for Major League Cricket with the LA Knight Riders. He may join the Indian team during the ODI series.
There is no clear update on Morkel’s appointment yet. According to Cricbuzz, discussions have been held, but an official announcement is pending.
Team India will depart for Sri Lanka on July 22 via a chartered flight from Mumbai. Ahead of their departure, Gambhir is expected to hold a press conference where chief selector Ajit Agarkar will likely welcome him officially. The announcement of the new coaching staff is also anticipated on the same day. BCCI secretary Jay Shah is in Colombo for the ICC Annual Conference. He will meet the players and new T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav.
