Team USA Basketball: USA narrowly beats Germany in last exhibition game

In its final match before the 2024 Paris Olympics, Team USA basketball triumphed over Germany, concluding its exhibition tour with an unblemished 5-0 record. The game was a nail-biter, with Germany holding an 82-81 lead late in the fourth quarter. However, the United States managed to rally, thanks in large part to LeBron James, the oldest player on the roster and the U.S. flagbearer.

LeBron James delivered an outstanding performance, scoring the final 11 points for the U.S. on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting. He ended the game with a team-high 20 points, along with six rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block, leading the U.S. to a 92-88 victory. At 39, LeBron James continues to impress as the NBA’s oldest active player.

The U.S. team showcased a balanced attack with five players scoring in double figures. Joel Embiid contributed 15 points, Stephen Curry added 13, while Anthony Davis and Anthony Edwards chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively. The team shot an efficient 49.28% from the field (34-69), outpacing Germany’s 35.8% shooting (29-81).

Germany’s effort was spearheaded by Franz Wagner, the rising star from the Orlando Magic, who tallied 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Despite their valiant effort, Germany couldn’t withstand the late-game heroics of LeBron James and the depth of the U.S. squad.

Team USA basketball remains a formidable force as they head into the Olympic basketball 2024 competition, showcasing a mix of veteran leadership and young talent. The USA basketball squad’s perfect record in their pre-Olympic games sets a positive tone for their upcoming matches in Paris.
