Former world No. 2 and 2012 Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka Radwanska is making a highly anticipated return to the tennis world—not as a player, but as a coach. Radwanska has joined Magda Linette’s team as a consultant and second coach, marking her first major coaching role since retiring in 2018. Linette enthusiastically announced the partnership on social media, and it will last until the end of the clay-court season, with the possibility of extending further based on mutual agreement.
Radwanska’s coaching journey has been a gradual one. In 2023, she took on the role of team captain for Poland at the United Cup, working alongside her husband, Dawid Celt. Reflecting on that experience, Radwanska noted, “Playing is one thing, but sitting on the bench is another. I don’t know what is more difficult to be honest, so I guess we’ll see there.” This experience sparked her interest in coaching, and now, she brings her expertise to Linette’s camp.
Under the agreement, Radwanska will provide 8-10 weeks of direct coaching support through the clay-court season, offering her tactical insights and guidance to help Linette elevate her game. While Radwanska steps into this new role, Mark Gellard will continue to serve as Linette’s main coach, ensuring continuity in her training.

Linette, currently ranked No. 38 in the world, expressed her excitement on social media: “Someone pinch me! Agnieszka Radwanska just joined my team!” Linette has marked her 2024 season with some inconsistency, holding a 30-26 win-loss record, but she captured a title at the WTA 250 tournament in Prague, showcasing her potential. With Radwanska’s coaching, Linette hopes to regain her best form and make significant strides in the 2025 season.
Known for her exceptional court craft and strategic brilliance, Radwanska’s deep understanding of the game is expected to provide Linette with a tactical edge. Having competed at the highest levels of the sport, Radwanska brings invaluable experience to her coaching role. While she acknowledged during the 2023 United Cup that coaching presents its own challenges, her poised demeanor and strategic acumen could prove to be a game-changer for Linette.
For Linette, this collaboration represents a valuable opportunity to learn from one of Poland’s greatest tennis stars. For Radwanska, it’s a chance to shape the future of Polish tennis from a new perspective. With Radwanska’s guidance, Linette looks set to take her game to new heights in 2025.
