West Indies secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Scotland in their T20 World Cup clash in Dubai, marking their first win of the tournament. They chased down Scotland’s total of 99 runs with 50 balls to spare, boosting their net run rate to 1.154 and placing them at the top of Group B. This defeat leaves Scotland with two losses in as many matches, raising concerns over their qualification chances.

Qiana Joseph’s explosive 31 runs off 18 balls initiated the West Indies chase, while Deandra Dottin contributed a swift 28 off just 15 deliveries, helping to finish the match decisively. Chinelle Henry also played a crucial role, adding 18 runs off 10 balls. The West Indies bowlers were instrumental in restricting Scotland to a mere 99 runs, with Henry earning the Player of the Match award for her exceptional bowling figures of 1 for 10.
Scotland struggled to build momentum, with only Kathryn Bryce and Ailsa Lister offering any resistance. Although they took some early wickets, they could not prevent West Indies from scoring freely, which proved to be a significant factor in the match.
In the powerplay, Scotland ended up at 25 for 2 but could have fared worse if not for West Indies’ catching errors. Henry’s skillful swing bowling kept Scotland in check, and their spinners effectively throttled the run flow. Despite a brief partnership between Lister and Kathryn, wickets began to tumble, leading to Scotland managing only 23 runs in the final five overs.
Ultimately, Dottin’s quick-fire innings ensured West Indies sealed a straightforward victory, underlining their dominance in the match.
