Man Utd Poised for Deadline Day Move as Manuel Ugarte Negotiations Continue

Manchester United are willing to play the waiting game to secure the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, hoping the French club will lower their asking price as the transfer deadline approaches.

The Uruguayan midfielder has been on United’s radar throughout the summer, but the Red Devils are currently reluctant to meet PSG’s valuation. The Ligue 1 champions signed Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon just 12 months ago and are looking to make a profit on any potential sale.

United remain keen on bringing Ugarte to Old Trafford but are unwilling to meet the current asking price, which exceeds £50 million. According to reports from The Guardian, the Manchester club is prepared to wait until the final days of the transfer window in an attempt to persuade PSG to reduce their demands.

PSG, who recently signed Joao Neves from Benfica, are open to offloading Ugarte, who was notably absent from their squad over the weekend. This has fueled speculation that his time in Paris could be coming to an end. Last year, Chelsea expressed interest in Ugarte but lost out when PSG outbid them.

As the Ugarte negotiations drag on, Manchester United have had to explore alternative options. One such option was Burnley midfielder Sander Berge, who has been on United’s radar for several years. However, Fulham have now made a bid for Berge, and if Burnley accept, United’s options in the midfield market could become even more limited.

In addition to Ugarte, United are also considering a permanent move for Sofyan Amrabat, who spent last season on loan at the club. Meanwhile, the club is willing to sell several players if it receives suitable offers. Scott McTominay, who has also attracted interest from Fulham, and Victor Lindelof are among those who could leave Old Trafford before the transfer window closes. Casemiro’s future at the club remains uncertain as well.

United manager Erik ten Hag has emphasized the need for further reinforcements, stating, “We can’t stand still.” When asked about potential new signings, he added, “It depends on what happens in the market, but I am happy with the squad, and I think when we have this squad, I am quite confident ahead of the new season.”
