On July 29, Republic of Korea celebrated a major achievement at the Paris 2024 Olympics as 16-year-old Ban Hyojin secured the gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle shooting event. This victory is notable not only for Ban’s impressive performance but also for its historic significance. Ban’s win represents the first gold medal in this event for a South Korean athlete since 1992 and marks the 100th gold medal won by Team Republic of Korea in the history of the Olympic Summer Games

The silver medal in the event went to Huang Yuting from the People’s Republic of China, who is also a member of the mixed team that won gold earlier in the Games. Huang, at just 17, has been a standout performer in shooting events. Audrey Gogniat of Switzerland claimed the bronze medal, completing the podium in this highly competitive discipline.
