Competing in his first Olympics, Aman Sehrawat, an Asian champion, defeated Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz 13-5 in a decisive bronze medal match. Despite Cruz taking an early lead, Aman quickly turned the tide, demonstrating his skill and resilience to secure victory.

This bronze marked India’s first wrestling medal at Paris 2024 and its sixth overall at the Games. Remarkably, Aman had earned his spot by defeating Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Ravi Kumar Dahiya in national trials. His success contributed to India’s growing tally at the Paris Games, making it the country’s second-most successful Olympics in terms of total medals.

In earlier rounds, Aman achieved impressive victories, including wins over former European champion Vladimir Egorov and world champion Zelimkhan Abakarov. Although he was eventually defeated by Japan’s Rei Higuchi in the semi-finals, Aman Sehrawat’s performance has solidified his place in Indian wrestling history.
