MotoGP is set to kick off its first full pre-season test of 2025 at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia from February 5 to 7. This highly anticipated session follows last week’s shakedown test, which was limited to test riders, rookies, and factory teams from Yamaha and Honda.

Unlike the shakedown, this week’s test will see the entire grid take to the track, offering teams and riders their first chance to evaluate their 2025 machines head-to-head before the season opener in Thailand on March 2.

MotoGP Sepang Test Schedule (Local & GMT Time)

DateLocal Time (MYT)GMT Time
Wednesday, 5 February10:00 AM – 6:00 PM2:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Thursday, 6 February10:00 AM – 6:00 PM2:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Friday, 7 February10:00 AM – 6:00 PM2:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Following the Sepang test, teams will move to Buriram, Thailand, for another two-day test on February 12-13, ahead of the season-opening Thai Grand Prix on March 2.

Who Will Participate in the Sepang Test?

Unlike last week’s restricted shakedown test, the Sepang test will feature all MotoGP teams and riders across five manufacturers: Ducati, Aprilia, KTM, Yamaha, and Honda.

Notable appearances include Marc Márquez’s official debut with Ducati, reigning world champion Jorge Martín riding for Aprilia, and rookie sensation Pedro Acosta stepping up with KTM. Honda’s full factory squad—which skipped last week’s session despite being eligible—will also be in action.

Here’s the full list of teams, bikes, and riders competing in the test:

How to Follow the Sepang Test?

Unlike the 2024 end-of-season test in Barcelona, which was broadcast live, the Sepang test will not be available on TV or online streaming platforms. However, fans can still stay updated through:

  • MotoGP’s official website, which will provide a live timing service (available for a fee).
  • Trackside coverage, including live updates, reports, and paddock reactions from journalists on the ground in Sepang.

What’s Next?

Following Sepang, teams will head to Buriram, Thailand, on February 12-13 for the final pre-season test before the 2025 MotoGP season begins on March 2 at the same venue.

With new rider line-ups, fresh machinery, and major rule changes in effect, the Sepang test promises crucial insights into what fans can expect in the upcoming season.
