MotoGP star Jorge Martin has provided an injury update, sharing a glimpse of his post-surgery hand after a scaphoid fracture sidelined him just days before the season opener in Thailand.
π§ Surgery Done, But Road to Recovery Uncertain
π₯ The Aprilia rider underwent surgery after suffering the injury, which added to the foot injury he sustained in a pre-season highside crash.
π£οΈ Martin posted on social media:
“Work in progress. Thanks for the support. Canβt wait to be back!”
However, Aprilia CEO Massimo Rivola has confirmed that Martin is already ruled out of the Argentina GP (March 14-16).
π’ Rivola:
“The surgery went well, according to Dr. Mir. But at the moment, we shouldn’t even think about when he will return.”
π€ Scaphoid Injuries: A Tough Battle Ahead

ποΈ Ducatiβs Marc Marquez, who endured a career-threatening injury five years ago, has advised Martin to be patient and not rush his recovery.
π’ MotoGP expert Sylvain Guintoli on TNT Sports:
“Scaphoid injuries can take a long time to heal and remain painful for months. Just look at Joe Robertsβhe’s still struggling a year later.”
β οΈ The unpredictable nature of this injury means Martinβs MotoGP title defence is already in jeopardy, especially after Marquez dominated the season opener and took an early 37-point lead.
β³ When Will Martin Return?
π« Martin is confirmed to miss at least two races, and his participation in the Texas GP (March 29-31) remains highly uncertain.
π Whenever he does return, Martin will have to adapt to the Aprilia without the benefit of a full pre-season, making his challenge even tougher.
π’ Will Martin make a strong comeback, or is his title challenge already over? Drop your thoughts below in the comments! πποΈπ₯
