Ducati Details Marc Marquez’s Impact and Adaptation to the GP25

Ducati’s technical director, Davide Barana, has shed light on how Marc Marquez is adapting to the GP25 and contributing to the team’s development. After a transformative 2024 season with Gresini on the GP23, Marquez now steps into the factory Ducati setup, partnering with reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia, and has already showcased his adaptability and expertise.

Barana highlighted Marquez’s unique strengths, particularly his unparalleled sensitivity in cornering. “Marc has his strong point in cornering. He has incredible sensitivity, especially on certain circuits and in specific corners, where he manages to do things others find difficult,” Barana told Marca.

Although Marquez and Bagnaia share a common goal, their riding styles differ, requiring subtle adjustments to the GP25. “Marc prefers a slightly ‘rough’ engine that is more proactive, a preference carried over from his Honda days,” Barana explained. “But he has quickly aligned himself with Ducati’s approach, making the necessary adaptations to our bike.”

Marquez and Bagnaia provided their initial feedback on the GP25 during the postseason Barcelona test. Encouragingly, their input was highly consistent, easing the technical team’s workload. “In Barcelona, the comments from both were very aligned,” Barana noted. “That is a help, though we are prepared to accommodate different paths if needed.”

Barana also praised Marquez’s intelligence and leadership qualities, attributes that have been instrumental in his eight world titles. “He is a complete rider—talented, intelligent, and capable of motivating a team. Champions are not just riders; they are leaders,” Barana emphasized.

Ducati remains optimistic about Marquez’s ability to unlock the GP25’s potential and continue his remarkable career resurgence. “His ability to push the front tire close to its limit while maintaining control is exceptional. With the GP25, he falls less, yet his aggression remains. It’s a perfect balance,” Barana said.

As Marquez continues to refine his approach and collaborate closely with Bagnaia, Ducati appears poised to dominate the 2025 MotoGP season, leveraging the strengths of two of the sport’s most formidable talents.
